Dr. M.S. Swaminathan

Chairman of the M.S. Swaminathan Foundation. He is known as the "Father of the Green Revolution in India" .Dr. Monkombu Sambasivan Swaminathan (MSS), ‘the living legend of our times’, has been truly hailed by the TIME magazine as one of the twenty most influential Asians of the 20th century alongside Mahatma Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore. His eventful career spanning over the last four decades, has been honed to perfection to realize his dream of building a hunger free India and ultimately a hunger free world. As an astute planner, result oriented executor and a brilliant crop scientists, he went on to transform India from a nation reeling under the pressure of food scarcity to a nation stronger and bolder in addressing its food needs. Now, the chairman of his dream institution, MS Swaminathan Research Foundation, and spear heading the evergreen revolution movement , he is living his dream of working in partnership and in harmony with nature designed to promote a job-led growth in rural India "without walls, involving everyone without any barriers". During his over five decades of active role in agriculture system in different capacities in India and abroad and more recently as Chairman of the National Commission on Farmers and now as Member of Rajya Sabha, he has been involved extensively in formulating and influencing policies related to farm sector at national and international level, which positively impacted the lives of millions of farmers in India and around the world.

Sh. Kapil Mehan

Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer and Additional Director Coromandel International Ltd.Mr. Mehan has been Managing Director of Coromandel International Ltd., since October 19, 2010. He served as Chief Operating Officer of Fertilisers at Tata Chemicals Ltd. until August 31, 2010. He served as Executive Vice President of Crop Nutrition & Agri Business at Tata Chemicals Ltd. He served as General Manager-Fertilisers of Rallis India Limited. Mr. Mehan joined TCL in 1996 and has served in various roles including Head of sales and marketing function in various segments like industrial chemicals, cement, and FMCG products (Tata Salt) of it. He was instrumental in transforming the business into a one-stop-shop for farmers through the launch of the extensive Tata Kisan Sansar (TKS) network in northern and eastern India. Prior to joining TCL, he worked with Rallis India Limited, for 15 years. He is known for his knowledge of agriculture, agri-business, and agricultural input markets in India. He serves as the Chairman of NRF, TQMS, Delhi. He served as an Executive Director of Tata Chemicals Ltd. from November 26, 2008 to August 31, 2010. He has been a Director of Coromandel International Ltd., since October 19, 2010. He serves as a Director FAI, khet-se, IMACID. He is Chairman of the FAI marketing advisory committee and is a member of the CII agri-business council. He is an active member of various industry associations in the country. Mr. Mehan is the Vice-Chairman of Agri Business Competitiveness Council, CII northern region and Executive member of northern region summit CII. Mr. Mehan is a graduate in veterinary science and animal health from the Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana and also holds a postgraduate diploma in management with specialisation in agriculture from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He is also an alumnus of the Harvard Business School’s advanced management programme.

Prof. V.L. Chopra

Sh. Y.C. Nanda

Former Chairman, NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development) & Chairman, National Commission on Farmers. He is considered to be the Father of MICRO Finance in India especially the “Self Help Group Bank Linkage Programme”, which has become the largest and the fastest growing micro finance outreach programme anywhere in the world. He has also chaired APRACA (Bangkok) during 1999-2001. In 2004 he was appointed as the Member of the National Commission on Farmers by the Government of India. Shri Nanda has also been a consultant to many International organizations of repute like the FAO, IFAD, UNOPS, GTZ and national institutions like NCER, SRTT etc. He was also appointed as the Chairman of the working group by the Planning Commission on agriculture credit and credit cooperatives for the formulation of the XI Five Year Plan. Shri Nanda is closely associated with a number of institutions in the field of micro finance, rural development and several management institutes as Trustee/ director, and is today the most recognized and admired face of India’s rural credit field.

Dr. Panjab Singh

Former DG,ICAR and VC, BHU. Prof. Panjab Singh, an accomplished Agronomist and research and education administrator, pioneered the research in the area of natural resources management. His landmark achievement of establishing more than 120 Regional Agriculture Research Stations in different parts of the country under ICAR National Agricultural Research Project during late 70’s till mid 80’s, substantially strengthened India’s agricultural research infrastructure. His prowess in administration is quite distinct from his contributions as Director of Indian Agriculture Research Institute where his measured approach helped in enhancing the quantum and quality of research output and human resource development. In his tenure as Director General, ICAR & Secretary, Department of Agriculture Research and Education, Govt. of India, he was provided unmatched leadership in generating resources, promoting infrastructure and building human resource at the national level. He was also active in the agriculture education in India in the capacity of Vice Chancellor of three prestigious universities in the country. As Vice Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University, he took a major step of setting up a new campus of BHU in the tribal belt of Vindhyan region at Barkachha (Mirzapur), thereby providing access to technical and professional education to a large section of less privileged population.

Dr. Purvi Mehta Bhatt

Director & Chief Executive Officer The Science Ashram. Country coordinator for South Asia Biosafety Program supported by IFPRI and USAI D.One of the Global authors for International Assessment for Agr iculture Knowledge, Science and Technology for Development.One of the three members of the expert committee formed by the CGIAR secretariat to review CGIAR- CSO program. Given talks, conducted workshops on capacity development issues, technology tr ansfer and developing country farmers’ issues in over 27 international meetings in 11 countries and several international organizations including the World Bank, CGI AR secretar iat, FAO, OECD.

Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu

Former Union Minister and Chairperson, CII-ITC Sustainability Awards Jury.He was a member of the 14th Lok Sabha of India. He is qualified as a Indian Chartered Accountant & member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He represents the Rajapur constituency of Maharashtra and is a member of the Shiv Sena (SS) political party. Prabhu is a four-time Member of the Lok Sabha from Rajapur Constituency of Maharastra - one of the biggest states of India. He was Industry Minister, Government of India in his first term. Then, he was Minister of Environment and Forests, Government of India and formerly, Minister of Fertilizers & Chemicals. He was also Union Minister of Power, Heavey Industry & Public Enterprises. As the Union Minister for Power he had imparted a new dynamism to the functioning of the Ministry and was committed to the all round development of this crucial sector economy. He was also Chairman of Task Force for Interlinking of Rivers with a status and rank of Union Cabinet Minister. Recently, he has been heavily involved in the international sphere. He was elected a member of the World Bank parliamentary network and nominated as the Chairman of the South Asia Water conference

Chairman Pesticide India Ltd.Salil Singhal has been Chairman of PI Industries Ltd. since July 1, 2007, and served as its and Managing Director from July 1, 2007 to December 2009. In addition, Mr. Singhal serves as the Chairman of WolkemIndia Ltd. Mr. Singhal serves as an Independent Director of Somany Ceramics Limited. He serves as a Director of PI Industries Ltd., Usha Martin Ltd. He serves as chairman of Secure Meters Ltd. and Wolkem India Ltd. Mr. Singhal served as Chairman of the Northern Region at Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). He was the Chairman of Crop Care Foundation (erstwhile Pesticides Association of India) for 17 years. He was subsequently elected as Chairman Emeritus for life by the members of the Foundation. He was also the past Chairman of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Northern Region. Dr. R.B. Singh

Assistant Director-General and FAO Regional Representative for Asia and the PacificProf. RB Singh, an outstanding r esearcher , had an illustrious career that portrayed his essence of leadership in improving agrarian livelihood, food, nutrition and ecological security. During his five decades of service to the agriculture sector, he provided leader ship in cutting-edge research and technology development, in higher education and human resources development and in policy and programme formulation, execution and appraisal; each pursued in national, continental and global capacities. A geneticist by profession, Pr of. Singh made important contributions in the fields of Genetics, Plant Breeding and Biotechnology. In recognition of his immense contribution to new knowledge, human resource capital and the science- led transformation of agriculture towards the alleviation of hunger and poverty in India and the Asia Pacific Region, Prof R.B. Singh was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2003 by the President of India – one of India’s highest civilian honour s that recognizes distinguished service to the Nation. He has also held many covetous positions such as Member of the National Commission on Farmers (2004 - 06), Assistant Director General of FAO and Regional Representative for Asia and the Pacific from 2000 to 2002, Chairman of the Agricultural Scientists Recr uitment Board ( 1999 - 2000), Director of the prestigious Indian Agricultural Research Institute (I ARI), New Delhi (1995 - 99) and Dean, Head of Department, Sr. Professor & Chair/Member Executive Council at leading Universities (1964 - 1979).

Executive Director IFFCO Foundation.J. N. L. Srivastava serves as the Managing Trustee of IFFCO Foundation. Mr. Srivastava has held the posts of Secretary in the Agriculture & Co-operation Dept. of Government of India, the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying & Fisheries and the Ministry of Non-conventional Energy Sources. He has vast experience in public administration and management of public enterprises and a long association with Agriculture, Industry, Commerce and Trade. He was the former Chairman of Indian Potash Ltd and the Managing Director of the Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation (PSIDC). He served as a Non-Official Part-Time Director of Shipping Corp. of India from July 28, 2007 to July 2010. He has held directorships in various Companies which include NABARD, IFFCO, KRIBHCO, NAFED, Max India Ltd. He has represented India in the Food & Agricultural Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations and the World Trade Organisation (WTO). He is an IAS.
